Research: Juno Re-creation

For this task we had to re-create the Juno video, therefore the teacher firstly showed us the original Juno video. We took into consideration of all the shots within this opening, and therefore, produced a story board. I took into account all of the camera shots that was used when making my story board for example, the first shot is a long shot (tracking) then a medium to long shot behind the character.

My storyboard represents each shot:

Here is a list of some of the types of camera shots/angles we conducted from the video and our storyboard.

1. Long shot (tracking)
2. Medium to long shot from behind the female actor
3. Close-up to female actors shoes
4. Medium shot of the female actor walking (legs)
5. Long shot (Female actor walking towards camera)
6. Medium shot of female actor
7. Medium shot of female actor walking (legs)
8. Medium shot of female actors upper body
9. Medium shot high angle of female actor walking away from camera
10. Long shot female actor walking towards the camera (Match on action with shot 9)
11. Long shot from female actors left leaving the frame
12. Point of view shot of the female actor looking down at her shoes.

To recreate our Juno video the first thing we took into consideration is who the main character will be. We decided that our main character would be female in order to make the film look realistic and original like the Juno video.

The story board enabled us to remember what each shot would look like and what type of camera angle/shot it would be for example shot 8 looks like a medium shot of the female actors upper body therefore, the storyboard was like a plan to guide us when recreating the Juno video. Moreover, it enabled us to see exactly where each shot would take place and in what order. Furthermore, to make the recreation original we inputted the original non diegetic sound track (All i want is you by Barry Louis Polisar) into our video. Also, one of the things we took into consideration was the credits. I wrote down the timing of each credit to make the recreation looks original and realistic for example:

0:15 - FOX SEARCHLIGHT PICTURE presents
0:20 - A MANDATE PICTURES/MR MUD PRODUCTION
0:26 - A JASON REITMAN FILM
0:28 - JUNO
0:37 - ELLEN PAGE
0:42 - MICHEAL SARA
0:46 - JENIFER GARNER
0:54 - JASON BATEMAN
1:00 - ALLISON JANNET

This task gave me a deeper understanding as to when and what times credits are represented. Also we decided to use a bottle as our prompt to make the movie original. I however, decided to challenger some of the creditors effects by adding effects when the credits are shown. I did this to challenge the original video. To conclude, i believe that my skills on Final Cut Express are improving for example, during my preliminary task i was unaware how to add audio however, now i am aware. Also, i learnt how to use a new program "Live type". This enabled me to write my credits by adding effect. However, if i had a chance to do this task again one thing i would improve on is the costumes. To make the video more original i would dress the exact same way as the character in Juno is represented.
